"We are less important that we thought we were, but we are more miraculous than we realized." —Bruce Mau.
I had a sobering thought the other day as I was able to perceive a huge chasm in my life between who I want to be (as defined by other's perception of me) and who I am (the reality of my actions). I hope people think I'm kind, I think I am. But am I kind enough. I hope I'm generous, but I'm sure my generosity could increase. I wish I was free of anger, but well I know I'm not.
There was an epiphany in this sobering thought — what if just changed my actions to be more like the person I want to be? Such an easy thought, maybe harder than it seems.
But this is the heart of creativity and leading a creative life. Making things is about doing. Manifestation isn't just a wish upon a star; it's about visualizing an outcome and changing the ingredients in your recipe.
What is your recipe? How do you paint? How do you make music? How do you answer emails? How do you design? How do you interact with friends? With your boss? With your partner?
Changing even one of the ingredients creates an enormous amount of fear. But even a small change is miraculous.
Can I do it? Can you do it? It depends how much you (and I) want it.

Cool Stuff
Shapes and colors are my thing. Nice work from Max Gigon.
Admittedly I like art that frustrates the audience (as my family is well aware). This custom book binding of poetry has cut outs that make the words shift on the page, with the intended meaning only appearing when the book is closed (and therefore unreadable). YES!
New Refinery work — a Making Of / BTS piece for The Perfect Couple. We’ve been working on this show for almost a full YEAR. We shot almost every interview in this piece (there are a LOT) and we did all the editing and post production. Very proud of how it turned out. Thanks to Netflix and all the amazing folks on my team.
Do YOU have a cool project you would like me to share with my readers? Hit me up and maybe we’ll see you in an upcoming Musing.
