As mentioned last week, I was in New York last week for a shoot. While there I had the wonderful opportunity to meet up with a good friend. We caught up and talked about the troubles of the world — specifically the strikes last year, the economy, the compression of content — then he said to me in a moment of wonderful empathy:
"How do you do it? How do you face each day knowing the challenges ahead of you?"
I immediately thought, oh damn, here comes a Tuesday Musing! Ha! I'm about to throw down some serious schooling! This is exactly the kind of inspiration I live for!
But as I began to mutter about being strong and clarity of focus blah blah blah, I realized something. I don't know how I do it. It's freaking hard, people.
Walking back to the hotel, I thought maybe that's the lesson: It's okay not to have all the answers. It's okay to want to be better and be in a moment where you don't know what to do. Creativity lives in these spaces of vulnerability. I'm okay. You're okay.
Don't give up. I believe in you.

Cool Stuff
My current favorite album is Cadence by Cinder Well. I was fortunate to see her perform recently at Hollywood Forever Cemetery and I knew right away I would become obsessed. She plays a metal resonator guitar and her sound is like bluegrass doom. YES! Standout songs: "Cadence" and "Crow."
I read a description of Anastassia Zamaraeva's work as "surreal ceramics." I tend to think the world surreal is overused and often misused. Still, this work is pretty great.
Not surprising coming from a former publisher, but yes, I love paper. I love when people make cool things with paper. So I love Peter Callesen's paper craft!
